Commentary:

Having obtained an experimental product, one of three interference colours using special effect pigments with a colour "flop", I was anxious to explore a concept involving a passage that would blend with it's surroundings in one orientation and then shift or flop in another.

The grayish-violet band exhibits a turquoise colour at one angle and then shifts to violet at most others. I applied the colour over a black band given a smooth surface texture with repeated coats of gloss medium. This was done to try and control the orientation of the platelets of the pigment to give a sharper angle for the colour shift. The trade-off is the difference in reflectivity of the band relative to its surroundings.

For the first time, I've modified the film strips, deliberately giving them a creased look. I also use thin tailing lines with a more organic feel plus the broken band as both a lead-in and an integrating element.
